Takeda San Diego (TSD) is a global center for excellence in structure-based drug discovery. Takeda recently expanded their San Diego operations into a second (East) building. FPBA was hired to provide design services for the conversion of an unused office suite into an employee lunch room and break area. The project also included a conference center and a new flexible office suite.
For this project, FPBA proposed the use of recycled, reused and rapidly renewable building materials, in addition to energy efficient equipment, appliances and lighting.
The new common amenities provide the employees in this building with opportunities for interaction and leisure that were not previously available. The employees have volunteered unanimously positive feedback on the contemporary design, the sustainable materials, the overall quality of the space, and the impact that these features have on their work environment.
