Jeana Renger

What architect/artist/designer inspires you and why?
The works of Shigeru Ban inspire me. As an architect, he explores space, light, and materiality. As a humanitarian, he explores design for disaster relief. As a designer, he explores the ergonomics of sitting in a chair, grasping a handle or a pen and viewing an exhibit panel.

His spirit of exploration inspires me because I believe that as an architect, one should never stop seeking new ideas and never stop imagining what could be.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
I love to hike with my family. Whether it’s Cowles Mountain or Torrey Pines State Park, I love getting outside on a picture perfect San Diego day to enjoy nature with my boys. I also like to explore San Diego with my family on our bikes. It’s a great way to cover a lot of area at a speed where you could also stop to enjoy the scenery!
