What architect/artist/designer inspires you and why?
Peter Zumthor is an architect who I constantly turn to for inspiration. Following his teachings that architecture is the backdrop for life, he has helped me better understand how space is used and made me more conscious about how we interact with the built environment on a daily basis. Zumthor’s use of simple material palettes is another aspect of his work that influenced many of my projects in school and something that I look to carry into my professional career.

Where is your favorite travel destination?
I’d have to say my favorite travel destination is Bavaria in southern Germany. I spent two weeks there a few summers back and absolutely fell in love with the area. Having the backdrop of the Alps surround you as you travel through these picturesque little towns and rolling hills is quite breathtaking. Munich is also one of my favorite cities to visit. It’s very walkable and feels very connected to nature with its proximity to the English Gardens and the Isar River that flows through it. Traveling out to Neuschwanstein Castle is also an incredible experience because, from the castle, you are framed under Alps and can look out over a large portion of southern Bavaria. It really is a place I hope everyone gets an opportunity to see at some point.
