What architect inspires you and why?
One of my favorite houses is the Gamble House in Pasadena, California, designed by Charles Greene & Henry Greene in 1907 and completed in 1908. As a kid, I first caught glimpses of this house watching the 1985 classic movie Back to the Future. I have always been drawn to the low-pitched overextended roof lines with the beautiful exposed wood rafters and the wide front porches with the mixed material stone or rock column bases. Then when I moved to Southern California, I was able to see the iconic American Craftsman houses around Balboa Park in person.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
In my spare time, when we are not traveling or visiting new places, I enjoy finding ways to customize our house. Whether it be a new fence, carriage doors to the garage, or a custom breakfast nook, I am always working to make it unique. Cycling and running have also been long-time pastimes of mine. And when I am not in the middle of a house project, I can be found tinkering on my 1971 Volkswagen bus, readying her for a family drive up the coast.
