GKN Aerospace is a global Tier-1 aerospace supplier that designs, manufactures, and services a wide range of advanced aircraft and engine components. The company leased a building in El Cajon for its aviation repair unit to meet the growing demand for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capacity.
FPBA was tasked with transforming a warehouse shell into a highly specialized and safe manufacturing environment. The project involved coordinating infrastructure for over 150 pieces of equipment, including large welders, CNC machines, clean lines, and hazardous materials systems.
Our team worked closely with the City of El Cajon Fire Department, hydrogen and gas vendors, and GKN’s direct consultant to address fire and life safety concerns, navigate code complexities, and manage hazardous waste handling.
With GKN’s internal layout evolving throughout construction, FPBA remained flexible by adapting utility plans and anchoring strategies. The result is a future-ready repair facility that supports advanced automation, improves turnaround time, and meets the demands of next-generation engines.
