What is your favorite building and why?
One of my favorite buildings is the Salk Institute in La Jolla. I love it’s symmetry against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. Growing up, I was with my friends at the beach as much as possible. We spent a lot of time at the beach near the Salk and would sometimes stop to get glimpses of the building. It wasn’t until I was a young adult and took a tour that I could really appreciate how the light interacts with the building and it’s materials. What an amazing view it is to stand in the courtyard and look at the one of the beaches holding so many of my childhood memories.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Soccer is a life-long passion of mine, having played since I was about 11 years old when there weren’t too many girls teams around. I took a long break but have recently started playing again and was able to check off a bucket-list item of playing an indoor game together with my oldest daughter. I attend most Bay FC home games but enjoy watching all levels of soccer. There is no such thing as watching too much soccer.
