What architect/artist/designer inspires you and why?
I’ve always admired Frida Escobedo work because of her sculptural use of materials in her designs, especially the perforated walls in projects like the 2018 Serpentine Pavilion. Another designer I’m inspired by is Maye Ruiz, whose deeply saturated color palettes in interior spaces have established a distinctive brand. Both these designers create dynamic experiences, whether it be through the sun’s shifting shadow or the bold color in the space. Their designs never feel static or boring.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
I would consider myself a ‘serial hobbyist,’ but one past time that never leaves my rotation is reading. I also enjoy switching off between by piano or the guitar when I need something more creative. I’d love to try out more hands-on hobbies like glasswork, ceramics, or photography!
