What architect/artist/designer inspires you and why?
One of my absolute favorite architects is Rick Joy. I am in awe at his use of material and form, and how he is able to create such a powerful dialogue between his projects and the adjoining landscape. I find his creativity limitless and his experimentation fruitful. I particularly like how he works so closely with contractors and craftsmen alike to have his beautiful visions come to fruition. Rick Joy is still very much practicing today, and I believe that he will one day be considered one of the greats.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
I believe that health and happiness are not attributes to be taken for granted. When I’m not in the office, there is a great chance you’ll find me running, weight lifting, swimming, bicycling, hiking, jumping rope—anything that keeps me active. I also find that activity gives me a great calm and sense of tranquility, which is a convenient outlet for daily life.
